The HTC One (M9) looks like it’s going to be HTC’s next flagship Android smartphone. From what we’ve seen so far, it looks like the device will borrow heavily from the One (M8), including its 5-inch screen size. The good news is that if you want a device that’s slightly larger, HTC may have something for you too.
New photos of what’s said to be the HTC One (M9) Plus, codenamed “Hima_Ultra”, have been posted to Chinese social network Weibo. The images depict a device that looks like a large HTC One (M8), complete with a metal body and Duo Camera. Two differences worth noting, though: a large camera housing and a rounded rectangle beneath its screen that’s said to be a fingerprint scanner.
Interestingly, it’s said that this One (M9) Plus could debut around the same time as the One (M9), which is expected to be shown off in March.
HTC has dabbled with fingerprint sensors in the past, placing one on the backside of the HTC One max, so we could certainly see HTC try it again. The placement on this alleged One (M9) Plus is kind of strange, but hey, maybe HTC felt that scanning a fingerprint would be easier to do if the reader is on the front of the phone, in the same place that Samsung and Apple use the feature.
If the HTC One (M9) and One (M9) Plus rumors pan out, which of the two do you think you’ll prefer?
