BlackBerry’s new Passport and Classic smartphones haven’t gotten a lot of love from major U.S. carriers so far, but that’s going to change soon.
AT&T announced today that it will begin selling both the BlackBerry Passport and BlackBerry Classic in the “near future.” While the devices will be the same as the ones that BlackBerry has been selling on its own for a while now, AT&T’s version of the Passport will be special. As you can see above, the AT&T BlackBerry Passport will have rounded corners, while the original Passport’s corners were squared off. These new rounded corners could make the Passport more comfortable to hold.
The BlackBerry Passport will be priced at $0 down and 30 payments of $21.67 with AT&T Next 24, 24 payments of $27.09 with AT&T Next 18, or 20 payments of $32.50 with AT&T Next 12. AT&T will also sell the Passport for $199.99 with a two-year contract or $649.99 commitment-free.
Meanwhile, the BlackBerry Classic will be available for $0 down and 30 payments of $14.00 each with AT&T Next 24, 24 payments of $17.50 per month with AT&T Next 18, or 20 payments of $21.00 per month with AT&T Next 12. The BlackBerry Classic will also be available for $49.99 with a two-year contract or $419.99 with a two-year commitment.
While BlackBerry has been selling both the Passport and Classic on its website, those devices are unlocked and contract-free, and so some consumers may have held off on buying them because of their full prices. Now that AT&T is launching both the Passport and Classic, though, consumers will have a more affordable way to get a hold of BlackBerry’s latest hardware.
