If you’re an Android fan that’s patiently waiting for your big app updates on this Wednesday, well, wait no longer.
An update to the Google app is now rolling out that brings it up to version 4.1. The update includes a new “Now Cards” section in the app’s settings menu that lets you toggle cards on or off, manage your card history and preferences, show notifications for card updates, and control how you’re alerted to urgent updates.
The “Ok Google” Detection section has been tweaked a bit in this update as well. Previously the section included a “When locked” option that allowed you to decide whether or not you’d like personal results and actions to be shown on your lock screen. The toggle is still the same, but now it’s called “Personal results” to make it a bit more clear what you’re doing.
The update also brings a number of other smaller tweaks, like better control of clearing the Google app’s data in your app settings, an updated look for voice typing, a refreshed launcher divider between the dock and desktop with dots that change size instead of color, and a new layout for the Stocks card.
While this new Google app update doesn’t appear to bring any major new features, there are a boatload of smaller tweaks that add up to make it a significant update. Kudos to El Goog for continuing to improve the looks and usability of its apps on a regular basis.
