Nearly one month after launching on Indiegogo, the Jolla Tablet’s crowdfunding campaign has come to an end.
The Jolla Tablet finished its funding effort with a total of $1,824,055 USD, well past its original goal of $380,000. Funders managed to surpass the Jolla Tablet’s second stretch goal of $1.75 million in the campaign’s final hours, meaning that Jolla will add a split screen functionality to its Sailfish OS that’ll allow users to run two apps simultaneously.
Jolla has said that it plans to begin shipping its tablet in May 2015. That’s about all that we know about the Jolla Tablet’s launch plans right now, but Jolla does promise that it’ll share more of its plans for the Jolla Tablet project next week.
The Jolla smartphone isn’t exactly widely available; the smartphone can only be sold in countries like Finland, Italy, Switzerland, Norway, Russia, Kazakhstan, India and Hong Kong. Because of the Jolla’s phone’s limited availability, it’s pretty impressive to see the Jolla Tablet blow up on Indiegogo in such a big way.
