It’s certainly been a long time coming, but it looks like Sprint’s HTC 8XT is finally receiving its Windows Phone 8.1 update, just like HTC said it would.
Sprint customers in the carrier’s official support forums, as well as Windows Central readers, are reporting that their HTC 8XT devices are being updated to Windows Phone 8.1. Neither Sprint nor HTC have officially announced the rollout, so we don’t yet have an official changelog, but we do know that Windows Phone 8.1 includes major changes like Cortana, the Action Center notification center, Word Flow keyboard and more.
Obviously the HTC 8XT is getting updated to Windows Phone 8.1 much later than some of its peers did. What matters now is that the update is finally here, though, and it ought to make the 8XT like a whole new phone for any Sprint customers that are still rocking HTC’s device. If you’ve got an HTC 8XT and haven’t yet received your update, head into Settings > Phone Update to check for it.
