It’s time for another Material design app update, and this one’s a biggie.
YouTube has just been updated with a Material design makeover, complete with circular avatars, a full-height navigation drawer and red all over. The app also has the ability to change the color of the app’s toolbar to match the colors from whatever channel you happen to be viewing. Finally, Google has thrown in an updated app icon and additional advanced search filters.
Google has been on a Material design update spree lately, getting all of its core Android apps to look right at home with Android 5.0 Lollipop. It’s kind of surprising that it took this long for YouTube to get its own Material refresh, but it’s finally here, and the update is just as big as you’d expect. The app’s ability to change the toolbar color to match that of the channel you’re viewing is a nice touch, too.
