Jolla launched an Indiegogo campaign for its Sailfish OS 2.0 tablet earlier this month, and the device reached its funding goal just hours after the effort began. The campaign is now sitting at $1.29 million, and since it’s still got 12 days to go, Jolla has introduced a few stretch goals.
The Jolla Tablet now has three stretch goals that’ll see Jolla add new features to its slate so long as its Indiegogo campaign reaches certain funding milestones. At $1.5 million, Jolla will add microSDHC support up to 128GB, up from the 32GB microSD card support that the tablet currently has. At $1.75 million, Jolla will add a Split Screen mode to Sailfish OS 2.0 that’ll let you run two apps at once. The Split Screen feature would be added as part of a software update released in Q3 2015.
Finally, if Jolla’s campaign hits $2.5 million, Jolla will offer a new version of its tablet with 3.5G cellular connectivity. Consumers that’ll already ordered a Wi-Fi-only model would be able to upgrade to a 3.5G unit for $30. Support for 3.5G connectivity would be added as part of a software update in Q3 2015 due to testing and certification requirements.
Since the Jolla Tablet hit its funding goal just hours after the campaign started, it’s not surprising to see Jolla add a few stretch goals. Doing so will reinvigorate interest in the funding campaign and could get folks that’ve been on the fence to pull the trigger and contribute to the campaign.
