After a multitude of leaks and rumors, the next member in Verizon’s DROID family is finally official.
The DROID Turbo is the next in the long line of Verizon’s DROID hardware, and just like the original DROID, this one’s made by Motorola. Here’s what Moto and Verizon have packed into their new flagship smartphone:
The DROID Turbo will be available online and in stores on October 30. The 32GB model will be priced at $199.99 with a two-year commitment or 24 payments of $25 each with Verizon Edge, while the more capacious 64GB unit will set you back $249.99 on-contract or $27 per month with Edge. The 32GB version will be available in all three aforementioned colors, while the 64GB model will only be sold in Black Ballistic Nylon.
Verizon also says that it’s got some special DROID Turbo offers. Those include a credit of $100 or more when you trade in a phone and get a DROID Turbo on contract, waiving of upgrade and activation fees for anyone that buys a Turbo before the end of 2014 and a special early Verizon Edge upgrade for anyone that upgraded before July 1, 2014. Finally, Verizon says that on-contract and Edge customers can get a free replacement Turbo if they break their screen during their contract period.
Overall, the new DROID Turbo looks like a pretty solid flagship smartphone. It’s got all of the specs that you’d expect from a high-end handset, including a QuadHD display, Snapdragon 805 processor and huge battery, and it looks like it runs a mostly-vanilla build of KitKat with an update to Lollipop coming. The Turbo’s design may not appeal to everyone, but it certainly does fit in with the DROID family.
Now that it’s officially official, what do you think of the DROID Turbo? Are you going to buy one?
