Now that Android 5.0 Lollipop is officially official, the question on most every Android user’s mind is “When will my device be updated?” Some manufacturers have already laid out their Android 5.0 update plans, but Samsung isn’t one of them. According to a new report, though, Galaxy S5 owners won’t have to wait long for a taste of Lollipop.
Sources speaking to SamMobile say that the Galaxy S5’s update to Android 5.0 will roll out in December. Of course, the distribution of the update will vary from region to region. US carriers will likely take some extra time to test the update before pushing it out to their customers.
Android 5.0 includes many new features and user interface tweaks, and a leak from early October claimed to show Samsung’s version of the update. Some of Android 5.0’s tweaks made the cut, like lock screen notifications and heads-up alerts for things like phone calls. There’s no doubt that TouchWiz is still present, though, so don’t expect to see a radically different UI on your GS5.
