Today is the day that we expect to see HTC announce its new RECamera and Desire Eye devices. And while it’s unlikely that we’ll see the oft-rumored Nexus 9 today as well, that doesn’t mean that today will be totally Nexus-less.
According to a report from Focus Taiwan, an HTC executive has confirmed the existence of the Nexus 9 tablet. Jack Tong, president of HTC’s North Asia arm, is said to have appeared at a press briefing in New York and teased that the Nexus 9 is “HTC’s commitment” to the tablet arena that it's been out of for a few years now. Tong went on to say that the Nexus 9 will hit Taiwan in the fourth quarter of 2014.
Considering how frequently the HTC Nexus 9 has leaked recently, including a confirmation in NVIDIA legal documents, today’s news doesn’t really give us much new information regarding the 8.9-inch slate. It does add more support to its existence, though, and that’s something worth getting excited about if you’re as hungry for a new Nexus as I am.
