Apple has been on a bit of a gold kick lately, launching the iPhone 5s in gold in 2013 and then following that up with the gold iPhone 6 and gold Apple Watch Edition in 2014. Now a report claims that Apple’s gold-painting spree will continue with the iPad.
Sources speaking to Bloomberg say that Apple is planning to introduce a gold iPad Air in October alongside the silver and space gray models that the current model is offered in. The design would likely match those of the gold iPhone 5s and gold iPhone 6, with a white front panel and a gold rear.
Gold has become a popular hue in the mobile world over the past year or so, with most mobile manufacturers offering gold versions of their flagship hardware. Considering both that and the fact that both the iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 are available in gold, it’s no surprise to hear that Apple may be prepping a gold iPad as well.
Today’s report also adds fuel to the 12.9-inch iPad rumor fire. Sources suggest that Apple is indeed prepping a new iPad model with a 12.9-inch display for a debut in 2015, which lines up with previous leaks.
