Remember how I told you about iOS 8.1 being in active testing earlier today? Well now you can test it out yourself if you’re a registered iOS developer.
Apple tonight released the iOS 8.1 beta to developers that are a part of its official iOS Dev Center. The update is build 12B401 and includes support for all of the iOS 8 devices: iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPod touch (5th generation), iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad mini and iPad mini with Retina display.
As for what’s packed inside, some of the changes
include a T-Mobile Wi-Fi Calling toggle in Settings, larger icons in the Notification Center widget list, the option to turn off Dictation, name change of “Recently Added” photos to “Camera Roll” and an updated iBooks app icon.
With Apple Pay slated to roll out to the public in October, it’s no surprise that Apple is seeding a beta version of iOS 8.1 to developers. Apple Pay will likely be included in the update, but it’ll be interesting to see what else Apple packs into iOS 8.1. Considering that
iOS 8.2 and iOS 8.2 are reportedly kicking around in Apple’s labs, Apple Pay may be the only major new feature that we get in iOS 8.1.
