Android fans, if you’ve been getting a little tired of all of the iPhone news lately, your time has come.
New images of what’s said to be Motorola’s Shamu, aka the next Nexus smartphone, have leaked. The images, which are a 9to5Google mockup that’s allegedly based on a real device, show a phone that looks extremely similar to the new Moto X. However, the Shamu is said to have a 5.92-inch display, up from the 5.2-inch screen found on the Moto X. The device in these images also have lock and volume buttons that are in the middle of the phone rather than up near the top like they are on the Moto X.
Turning to specs, sources say that the Shamu will feature a 5.92-inch 2560x1440 display, 13-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and a Snapdragon 805 processor. With all of those powerful features, it should come as no surprise that the Shamu is expected to be powered by a 3200mAh battery, which is quite an increase from the Moto X’s 2300mAh juice pack.
Obviously all of this is still very much a rumor for now, but if it’s true, the next Nexus could be an Android powerhouse. The bad news is that I’m betting that there would be a number of folks turned off by the Shamu’s gigantic display. However, the Nexus phones have increased in screen size with each generation, so it's definitely possible that Motorola and Google could move up to a near-6-inch screen with the next model.
What do you make of these latest Motorola Shamu/Nexus 6 rumors? Will you be happy if the device described above is indeed the next Nexus smartphone?
