Rumors of an HTC Nexus 9 tablet have been floating around for months now, but a new NVIDIA legal filing has pretty much confirmed that the device is on its way.
NVIDIA has posted a large stack of legal documents (PDF link) on its website that cover its lawsuit with Samsung and Qualcomm that includes the products that are alleged to have infringed patents owned by NVIDIA. On the 41st page, NVIDIA names several devices that are powered by its new Tegra K1 processor, including Lenovo’s Terminator S9 Smart TV, Google’s Project Tango development kit and “the HTC Nexus 9,” which NVIDIA says will launch in the third quarter of 2014 with a Tegra K1 chip at its core.
While NVIDIA’s docs don’t really reveal much about the HTC Nexus 9 that we didn’t already suspect, it does give the rumors surrounding the device a huge boost of support. Plus, now we know when to expect the Nexus 9 to arrive, which will likely happen alongside the public launch of Android L.
