We’ve seen quite a few iPhone 6 leaks so far, including many that have shown both the front and rear of the new hardware. Today we may have hit the motherlode, though, with photos and video that claim to show a fully functional iPhone 6 running iOS 8.
Photos posted by zzray, member of Chinese social network Weibo, purportedly show a white and silver 64GB iPhone 6 next to a gold iPhone 5s. The iPhone 6 looks similar to the leaks we’ve seen in the past, sporting curved glass and edges, elongated volume buttons, a protruding rear camera and a round flash.
Software-wise we can see an iOS 8 home screen that could accommodate 6 rows of app icons, compared to the 5 on the 4-inch iPhone 5s. The iPhone 6 also appears to have a new Passbook app icon that has a new red stripe up top that could include an image of a credit card, hinting at that mobile payments support that we’ve heard so much about lately.
The source of today’s leak also posted a brief video showing that the iPhone 6 unit has a working Touch ID fingerprint sensor that’s used to unlock the device.
So is this the real deal? It’s tough to say definitively, but everything that we can see in these photos and the video seems to line up with what we’ve heard in the past about the iPhone 6. Overall the iPhone 6 looks to be a pretty big change from its predecessor, offering a new design with curved edges, an improved camera and, oh yeah, that 4.7-inch display.
It’s expected that Apple will officially unveil the iPhone 6 at its event on Tuesday, with a launch to follow shortly thereafter. Will you be pleased if the device shown in these photos turns out to be the real iPhone 6?
