The BlackBerry Passport has been dominating the BlackBerry news as of late, with both BlackBerry and the rumor mill hyping the device up ahead of its late September debut. The folks in Waterloo have another, more traditional ‘Berry in the works, though, and today we’re getting a closer look at that model.
Images posted to Chinese social network Weibo show off the BlackBerry Classic, the new BlackBerry 10 smartphone that resembles the BlackBerry Bold (shown middle in the image above, Q10 to the left) smartphones of the old BlackBerry OS 7 days. The device features a 3.5-inch display, trackpad and a row of physical buttons that includes Send, End, Menu and Back. There’s also hardware QWERTY keyboard bolted onto the bottom of the unit.
The BlackBerry Classic is a BlackBerry 10.3 smartphone that’s said to include Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 2GB of RAM. While it’s not the first BlackBerry 10 smartphone with a physical keyboard, the combination of that QWERTY, the trackpad and row of navigation buttons combine to make a device that could convince BlackBerry 7 diehards to finally make the jump to BlackBerry 10.
The BlackBerry Classic is slated to launch in November. Does the combination of BlackBerry 7-style hardware and BlackBerry 10.3 software make you interested in this new ‘Berry?
