Much of the rumors surrounding Apple’s wearable have focused on its hardware, claiming that the device will come equipped with a curved AMOLED display and NFC functionality. The iWatch rumors are continuing today, but this time around we’re focusing on the device’s software.
Sources speaking to 9to5Mac say that the Apple wearable will run third-party apps and will come with an App Store in tow. Some “high-profile” companies recently received an SDK to begin work on building apps for the device, today’s report claims, likely so that Apple can show off some apps for the wearable at its official unveiling on Tuesday.
Despite the expectation that the Apple wearable will debut on Tuesday, the wrist gear isn’t expected to ship until early 2015. That will give developers ample time to prepare apps for the unit, which is good news considering that a good app selection is one of the most important features that a new mobile device needs. As far as pricing goes, Apple is reportedly prepping more than differently-priced models of its wearable, with pricing as high as $400 being considered.
