Motorola has been pretty good when it comes to supporting its recent handsets with software updates, providing them with new features and OS updates in a timely manner. That shows no signs of letting up going forward, including for Motorola’s older hardware.
Motorola exec Punit Soni announced today that all of the new software unveiled with the new Moto X will make its way to existing Moto users, so long as the hardware allows for it. Soni didn’t elaborate much on the topic, but one new feature announced by Motorola today that I could see hitting the OG Moto X is the updated Moto Voice app — formerly known as Touchless Control — that includes a customizable “OK Google” prompt and phrases like “Take a selfie.”
While the new Moto X features quite a few upgrades over the original model, some folks may not upgrade to it for one reason or another, such as its larger screen size. That’s why it’s great to hear that Motorola plans on treating its existing users to any new software feature that it can. There’s no telling when these new features will roll out, but at least you current Moto folk can rest easy knowing that you’ll get some new software goodies to mess with soon.
