We’ve known about the Moto 360 since Android Wear first debuted in March, but there’s never been a peep about when the device will go on sale or how much it’ll cost. That was made even worse due to Motorola’s multiple teases of the device. Thankfully, the teasing is coming to an end today, and it won’t be long before you’ll have a 360 on your wrist.
The Moto 360 will officially be available for purchase starting at 11 A.M. CT/ 12 P.M. ET for $249.99. If you just can’t wait until then — and really, I can’t blame you if you feel that way — the folks at Android Police have found that you can actually use some sneaky URLs to buy a unit right now. It’s also worth noting that if a leather band isn’t quite premium enough for you, Motorola will soon sell an light metal and dark metal versions of the Moto 360. That unit will come with a metal strap and $299.99 price tag this fall, but you’d rather not wait to buy a 360, you’ll be able to get just a metal band in the fall for $79.99.
As a quick refresher, the Moto 360 offers a 1.56-inch 320x290 LCD display, 4GB of storage, 512MB of RAM, IP67 water resistance, TI OMAP 3 processor and a 320mAh battery. Charging is accomplished by dropping the Moto 360 into a charging dock. Dimensions for the Moto 360 case include a 46mm diameter and 11.5mm height.
Android Wear, the software that powers the Moto 360, is still in its early days and may not be a good fit unless you want to get in on the smartwatch action right this second. It helps that the Moto 360 is an attractive piece of hardware, and the leather and metal strap options are welcome.
