It used to be that the only time that we ever saw a ZTE device in the U.S. was when carriers were rebranding the company’s devices as their own. That changed last year when ZTE began selling the Grand S and nubia 5 stateside, and now that U.S. push is continuing with a new mini smartphone.

ZTE is now accepting pre-orders for its nubia 5S mini LTE, its latest shrunken smartphone. Pricing for the nubia 5S mini LTE is set at $279.99 on Amazon, and it’s expected that an actual launch will take place on Aug. 27.

The ZTE nubia 5S mini LTE packs a 4.7-inch 1280x720 display on its face and a body that measures 7.6mm thick. Packed inside of that frame is Android 4.3, a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 16GB of storage, a microSD card slot, a 2000mAh battery and 4G LTE connectivity.

What about the cameras, you ask? Well those are two features that ZTE has chosen to place a lot of focus on. The nubia 5S mini LTE boasts a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, sapphire lens and BSI image sensor. The front-facing shooter is of the 5-megapixel variety. The device also comes with three camera modes: fun, auto and pro.

While the ZTE nubia 5S mini LTE offers mid-range specs that are comparable to other “mini” smartphones on the market, its $279.99 no-contract price makes it much cheaper than most of its shrunken siblings. And with its 4.7-inch display, 13-megapixel camera and  and LTE connectivity, the nubia 5S mini LTE could be a great option for anyone looking for a new smartphone on the cheap.
