Earlier this year, Sony took the wraps off of the Xperia M2, a mid-range Android smartphone that housed a 4.8-inch display, Snapdragon 400 processor, 2330mAh battery and 4G LTE connectivity. Now Sony has gone back and improved upon the Xperia M2 by adding a single feature.

The Sony Xperia M2 Aqua is now official, and as you might’ve guessed from the name, it’s a waterproof version of the Xperia M2. The Xperia M2 Aqua is IP65/68 rated, meaning that it can withstand being submerged in 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes. The device is also dust resistant.

Aside from that IP65/68 protection, you’re getting a device that’s largely similar to the Xperia M2 that debuted back in February. That means that it’s got a 4.8-inch 960x540 display, 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear and VGA front cameras, 8GB of storage and a 2330mAh battery. The Xperia M2 comes preloaded with Android 4.4 and 4G LTE.

The Xperia M2 Aqua will be available in black and white color options and is expected to launch in fall 2014 in Latin America, Asia Pacific and Europe.
