We’re only a week into Marcelo Claure’s tenure as Sprint CEO and Big Yellow is already making some big plan changes.
Sprint just announced the “Sprint Family Share Pack,” a new shared data plan that’s launching August 22. The new plan offers 20GB of shareable data for $100 per month. This offer is available from Aug. 22 through Sept. 30 for customers switching to Sprint. The $15 per month line access fee will be waived through 2015.
Pricing for all of the Sprint Family Share Pack options starts at $20 for 600MB and goes all the way up to 60GB for $225. The full list of offerings can be found below.
After selecting your data allotment, you’ll add phone lines. Pricing will be set at $25 per line for a non-discounted phone (like phones you bring or Sprint Easy Pay devices) for 600MB to 16GB allotments. That access fee drops to $15 per line in the 20GB-60GB allotments. Customers that have a discounted (aka on-contract) phone will pay a $40 per line access fee.
Customers can also add tablets and mobile broadband devices to a Sprint Family Share Pack plan. Tablet hardware will be subject to a $10 per month access fee, while mobile broadband devices will require a $20 per month fee.
Sprint’s also got a couple of limited time promotions to pair with its new Family Share Pack. First up is that customers signing up for the 20GB for $100 offer outlined above will receive an additional 2GB per line for up to 10 lines.
The second offer from Sprint focuses on attracting switchers. Sprint says that it will “buy out” the contracts of families switching to Sprint with a Visa Prepaid Card worth up to $350.
Finally, it’s worth noting that Sprint says that its Family Share Pack includes high-speed data, but that data speeds “may be limited, varied or reduced.” Sprint says that it’ll do this in order to “improve the data experience for the majority of users.”
So now that we’ve gotten the details on Sprint’s “very disruptive” plan, what do you think? Are you enticed by the Sprint Family Share Pack?
