After going through a brief private beta period, BBM for Windows Phone is now available to all.
The official BBM app is now available for download in the Windows Phone Store. As I’ve noted before, the app includes many of the same features and BBM on other platforms. The app has a Chats menu, a Feeds screen for things like status updates and profile image changes and a Contacts page that’ll display all of your contacts.
Windows Phone users should note that there are a couple of things about their version of BBM that make it unique. For example, users can pin a single chat to their Start screen that’ll let them quickly jump into that chat room. The BBM for Windows Phone app also features a user interface that’s very Windows Phone-like, making it feel more at home on the platform.
BlackBerry originally announced BBM for Windows Phone way back in February 2014, so it’s nice to see the app finally being released to the public. And while BBM may not be the go-to messaging service for as many folks as it used to be, it’s still a big get for Windows Phone.
The BBM Beta app can be downloaded from the Windows Phone Store right here. It’s compatible with Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1.
