Foursquare announced in May that it was splitting its popular check-in app in two, creating a new app called Swarm that’s focused specifically on check-ins while the Foursquare app would be used for discovering places to go. Swarm launched a couple of weeks later, but the new Foursquare app is nowhere to be found. We’re still waiting for it to launch, but today Foursquare gave us a peek at the app to make the wait easier.
Foursquare says that it plans to roll out its new-look app “in a couple weeks.” In order to help usher in the refreshed app, Foursquare has also unveiled a new logo that ditches the dodge ball for a pink “F” map pin.
Screenshots of the new Foursquare app show that it will have tabs at the bottom of its display that’ll include Find a place, Here, Tips and Profile pages. Once you’ve settled on a venue, you’ll see a page with a larger cover image and easy access to Rate, Saven Share and Check In buttons, the last of which will open up the Swarm app if you’ve got it installed.
Are you using the new Swarm app? If so, what do you think of it?
