Earlier this month, rumors of an upcoming tablet with NVIDIA Shield branding surfaced, suggesting that the chip maker may be prepping a gaming-focused Android slate. Those rumors continue to flow today, but this time around we’re getting a peek at what may be the device itself.
Prolific leakster @evleaks has shared an image of what’s said to be the “NVIDIA Shield Tablet.” The device appears to be running NVIDIA’s own gaming store and looks to have speakers and a camera on its face.
No hard spec details about the Shield Tablet have been revealed today, but previously-leaked benchmark results suggested that the device could sport a 7.9-inch 2048x1536 display, quad-core Tegra K1 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. If those specs hold true, the Shield Tablet could be a serious piece of portable gaming kit.
Of course, one thing that this tablet doesn’t appear to have is the physical controls of the current Shield handheld, which would make it slightly less conducive to hardcore gaming as its controller-packin’ sibling.
What do you make of this NVIDIA Shield Tablet? Is it a device that you’re interested in?
