Back at the tail end of April, a Google Play edition of the Samsung Galaxy S5 quietly appeared in the Galaxy S 4’s spot in the Play Store. The device was later removed and we never heard anything official on the matter. The GS5 GPe is back again today, though, this time in a much larger and clearer image.
@evleaks has shared a high-quality image of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Google Play edition. Just as you’d expect, the device looks similar to the regular Galaxy S5, save for the fact that it’s running vanilla Android 4.4 rather than Samsung’s TouchWiz-ified version of KitKat.
Considering that the Galaxy S5 and the HTC One (M8) Google Play edition have both been available for a few months now, it’s kind of strange that we haven’t seen the Galaxy S5 GPe put up for sale. Here’s to hoping that Google finally adds the GS5 GPe to the Play Store’s virtual shelves soon so that Android purists have another way to get a taste of the stock version of Google’s OS.

UPDATE: @evleaks has shared another image of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Google Play edition. This new shot includes the device’s side and rear as well as its front, and it also does away with the redundant on-screen navigation buttons included in the original image.
