Google officially joined the streaming music wars with the introduction of Google Play Music All Access back at Google I/O 2013. While Google’s All Access pricing is in line with its competitors’, the name of its service isn’t, as it's much longer than services like “Spotify” and “Beats Music.” That could change soon, though, as a Google support document suggests that an All Access name change could be coming.

The folks over at Android Police have discovered a Nexus 7 All Access Promo support page on Google’s website that suggests that Google Play Music All Access may soon become “Google Play unlimited music subscription.” In the support doc, Google says that “A Google Play unlimited music subscription (previously known as Google Play Music All Access) entitles subscribers to listen to unlimited music from the song titles available within Google Play on a monthly basis.” The doc goes on to use the name “Google Play unlimited music” several other times.

Google hasn’t officially announced any name change for its All Access music service, so for now this is very much unconfirmed. A new name for All Access could make sense, though: simply using “Google Play unlimited music” is more simple and straightforward than “Google Play Music All Access.” And while a new name won’t change how Google Play’s music streaming works — at least, not as far as we know now — it’s still an interesting tidbit worth taking note of.
