The Samsung Galaxy S5 has launched on tons of different carriers since its debut back in late February, and now we’ve learned that we’ll soon be adding one more operator’s name to that list.
Cricket Wireless has announced that it will begin selling the Galaxy S5 online and in stores starting this Friday, June 27. Pricing for the GS5 will be $539.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate.
The Cricket-flavored Galaxy S5 features the same specs as the models currently on other carriers. That means that it’s packing:
Cricket offers smartphone plans that include unlimited talk, text and data along with varying amounts of high-speed data. The $40 Basic plan offers 500MB of high-speed data per month, the $50 Smart plan has 2.GB and the $60 Pro offering includes 5GB of high-speed data. Customers that enroll in Auto Pay can shave $5 per month off of those totals.
It’s great to see Cricket adding another high-end smartphone to its lineup. In the past, prepaid providers have typically been thought of as only selling old or low-end handsets, but that’s changing as of late. Cricket folk can select the Lumia 1320, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, Galaxy S 4 and soon the Galaxy S5 as well.
