Earlier this evening, Google caught us all off-guard by posting the factory images and binaries for the Android 4.4.4 update. What’s better is that we didn’t have to wait long for the update to begin trickling out to users, as the Nexus 5’s OTA has already begun rolling.
Users over at xda-developers have begun receiving the Android 4.4.4 KTU84P update for the Nexus 5 and have captured the URL for the update. This means that if you’re comfortable with sideloading the update yourself, you can install the latest and greatest version of Android on your Nexus 5 this very second.
Meanwhile, Sprint Moto X owners are getting an update of their own this evening. No, unfortunately it’s not Android 4.4.4, but it’s close! Android 4.4.3 is now making its way out to the Sprint Moto X, bringing it up to software version KXA21.12-L1.22 and including the following tweaks:
Sprint says that this update is rolling out in stages, so you may not see it right away. Don’t get too antsy, though, because I’m sure it’ll come along soon enough. If you’d like something to do to help pass the time, you can check for the update manually by going into Settings > System Update > Update Motorola Software.
