Earlier this month, Windows Phone head Joe Belfiore teased that Microsoft was cooking up a File Manager app for Windows Phone 8.1 that would debut by the end of May. Fast-forward to today, the second-to-last day of May, and Files has indeed arrived.
Microsoft just announced that its Files app is now live in the Windows Phone Store. Just as you’d expect, the app allows you to access and manage the files on your phone and your SD card. Using Files, you can browse, search for and open documents that are saved to your device. You can also create new folders, move and copy files as well as rename and delete them. Finally, you can use Files to easily share your content with others.
A file manager may not seem like the most exciting app ever, but it’s a pretty useful tool that I’m sure many Windows Phone users will find pretty handy at one time or another in the future. The app looks nice and sounds pretty easy to use, and perhaps best of all is that it allows you to share docs with others.
If you’re rocking a Windows Phone 8.1 device, head over to the Windows Phone Store using the link below and get to downloading!
