Remember last week when we told you that a Samsung Galaxy S5 Active is in the works for AT&T? Well today that rumor got a bit of support in the form of a hands-on video that claims to show off that very device.
A new clip has been posted to YouTube by TK Tech News that purportedly reveals the Galaxy S5 Active for AT&T. The device looks to have a ruggedized body and a trio of physical navigation buttons, similar to those found on the Galaxy S4 Active. The phone is also sporting a removable back cover and a heart rate sensor like the one found on the Galaxy S5.
As the device is booting up, we’re greeted by a splash screen that reads “Samsung Galaxy S5 Active” followed by an AT&T screen. We’re then shown the S5 Active’s About phone screen, which reveals that its model number is SM-G870A and that its running Android 4.4.2 beneath Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. Finally, we can see that there are some preloaded AT&T apps on the device’s home screen.
So is this the real deal? It’s too early to tell right now, but the phone certainly appears to have all of the makings of a Galaxy S5 Active. And while the regular Galaxy S5 is water resistant, it’s possible that Samsung opted to create a Galaxy S5 Active for folks that want something that can withstand a bit more of a beating.
You can check out the full near-4 minute clip down below. What do you think of the phone shown in the video? Will you be happy if it is indeed the Galaxy S5 Active?
