Earlier this week, a rumor claimed that on May 19, Verizon will officially launch a new branding for its AWS LTE coverage known as “XLTE.” Today a pair of new reports have come forward to add support to this rumor.
A new image shared by @evleaks shows the “XLTE” branding and says that the service will offer “double 4G LTE bandwidth in cities coast to coast.” Additionally, an official-looking Verizon XLTE commercial has been uploaded to Vimeo.
Verizon’s 4G LTE network has been around for quite a while now, and as a result, the service has started to become a bit crowded recently and its speeds have started to slow. This additional AWS spectrum will add more capacity to Verizon’s LTE coverage, allowing customers with compatible hardware to enjoy faster network speeds.
There’s no word yet on exactly where Verizon’s XLTE network will be available at launch, but the good news is that with a debut scheduled for May 19, it won’t be long before all is revealed.
