When Samsung took the wraps off of the Galaxy S5 in February, it said that its new flagship would be available in four colors: Charcoal Black, Shimmery White, Electric Blue and Amber Gold. We’re now a little over a month after the S5’s actual launch, and the list of the device’s color options has already grown by two.
Today Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy S5 is launching in Japan in two new colors. The first is “Sweet Pink,” a deep shade of pink that’s exclusive to Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo. The second hue is called “Champagne Pink” and is a bit more pastel than its pink partner. The Champagne Pink Galaxy S5 is exclusive to Japanese carrier KDDI.
Samsung explains that its launching pink Galaxy S5 models in Japan because the country apparently loves that color. The company points to things like cherry blossoms, Hello Kitty and the popularity of pink clothing as reasons for its decision to launch pink Galaxy S5 models in Japan.
Past members of the Galaxy S flagship line have been offered in several different colors, so it’s no surprise to see the Galaxy S5 gaining some new duds. Whether or not it’ll ever don either of these pink outfits outside of Japan is unknown for now, but the Pink Twilight Galaxy S 4 never really saw a huge release, so I’m not sure that I’d hold my breath for a wide launch of either pink Galaxy S5 model.
If you could choose the next color that the Galaxy S5 launches in, which would you select?
