Get excited, BlackBerry fans, because today your favorite company has shared some details of related to two of its upcoming devices!
Over on its official Developer Blog, BlackBerry today announced that the beta version of the software development kit (SDK) for BlackBerry 10.3 is now available, meaning that developers can begin prepping their apps for the BlackBerry 10.3 OS update.
As part of its announcement, BlackBerry revealed that the SDK includes a simulator for a new square screen that’ll be used on an upcoming device with a resolution of 1440x1440 and pixel density of 453 DPI. The company also reaffirmed that the BlackBerry Classic will launch this year and that, when it does, it’ll have BlackBerry 10.3.1 in tow.
This information about the mystery BlackBerry’s display lines up with a recent report from CrackBerry about a device codenamed “Windermere.” This handset is rumored to be coming with a 4.5-inch 1440x1440 LCD screen, 3450mAh battery, 13-megapixel OIS rear camera and “a revolutionary keyboard.”
The Windermere certainly sounds like an impressive device, and if the rumors hold true, it’d be the highest-end BlackBerry we’ve ever seen. Today’s tease from BlackBerry seems to give credence to the rumors, and while this Windermere likely wouldn’t turn things reverse BlackBerry’s tough times on its own, it could at least get some attention for BlackBerry and BB10.
