Apparently today is just Galaxy S5 day. Not only is Samsung’s newest flagship smartphone hitting store shelves around the world, but the company has also taken the wraps off of a special version of the S5.
Samsung today added the Galaxy S5 Developer Edition for Verizon to its official website. The device is listed as “Coming Soon” and includes the same spec list as the standard Galaxy S5.
There’s no mention of what makes this Developer Edition of the S5 unique, but Samsung has previously offered Dev Editions of the Galaxy S III, Galaxy S 4 and Galaxy Note II that featured easily-unlockable bootloaders. This feature allows developers and tinkerers to load custom ROMs onto the device with little effort.
Samsung hasn’t revealed exactly when the Galaxy S5 Developer Edition will launch or how much it’ll cost when it does, but if you like to get your hands dirty with Android, this may be a device worth waiting for.
