Looks like Qualcomm is helping spec hounds get their week off to a good start. This morning the chip maker announced the two newest entries in its line of Snapdragon processors, the Snapdragon 808 and Snapdragon 810.

Both the Snapdragon 808 and Snapdragon 810 are 64-bit chips, and both models also include support for Cat 6 LTE connectivity. Qualcomm also says that the components that make up the chips are “tightly integrated and optimized” to sip power without sacrificing performance.

So what’s the difference between the Snapdragon 808 and Snapdragon 810? Well, the 808 includes an Adreno 418 GPU that’s said to offer 20 percent faster graphics performance than the Adreno 330 GPU that’s found in the Snapdragon 800. The 808 also includes support for LPDDR 3 RAM and WQXGA (2560x1600) displays, and the chipset is powered by two ARM Cortext-A57 cores and a quad Cortex-A53 CPU.

Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 810 packs a beefier Adreno 430 GPU that’s designed for use with 4K displays. Also included with the 810 is support for LPDDR4 memory, Bluetooth 4.1, USB 3.0 and NFC. Qualcomm says that the 810 is also great for imaging thanks to its ability to support camera sensors up to 55 megapixels as well as image features like enhanced exposure and fast low-light focus.

Sounds great, right? Unfortunately for those spec hounds that are sure to get excited by today’s announcement, Qualcomm says that its new Snapdragon 808 and 810 chips won’t begin arriving in commercial devices until the first half of 2015. Maybe telling yourself that good things come to those who wait over and over will help make 2015 come faster?
