Remember that big BBM update that BlackBerry teased back at the end of February? Well it's live today, bringing with it support for stickers and other new features.
The biggest addition in today's BlackBerry Messenger update is the BBM Shop, which houses sticker packs that users can buy and then use in their chats. Sticker packs contain between 20 and 25 stickers that've been designed by artists and also relate to popular brands like Shaun the Sheep and the WWE, the latter of which is giving away a sticker pack to celebrate the upcoming WrestleMania 30 pay-per-view. Other packs are available for free or $1.99 and are paid for through a device's app store.
If stickers aren't quite your thing, don't fret, because BlackBerry's included some other new features in today's update that most every BBM user should appreciate. The first is support for sending files up to 16MB in size. This feature is enabled on BlackBerry 10, Android and iPhone devices and enables users to share higher-quality images and longer videos. The second new feature in today's BBM update is the ability to send photos in multi-person chats.
This update brings BBM for BlackBerry 10 up to version 10.3.1, the BlackBerry OS app to version 8.2 and both the Android and iOS apps to version 2.1. The new version of BBM doesn't appear to be live in the various app stores quite yet, but BlackBerry says that it's rolling out today, so you BBM addicts should keep an eye out for it in the coming hours. To help keep you busy until the update hits, I've embedded BlackBerry's brief video demo of BBM stickers down below.
