LG announced last week that its contribution to the mini smartphone trend, the G2 mini, would begin hitting international shelves in April. The Life's Good crew didn't make any mention of a U.S. launch, but a new rumor claims that there is indeed one in the works.

Prolific leakster @evleaks says that the LG G2 mini will arrive on Sprint in the U.S. with the model number LS885. There's no word on when LG and Sprint might be planning to release the LS885, but LG recently said that the G2 mini will launch in Russia in April and that releases in other countries would follow closely behind, so a U.S. rollout may not be too far off.

As a quick spec refresher, the LG G2 mini packs a 4.7-inch 960x540 display and 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, both of which are down from the 5-inch 1080p panel and quad-core Snapdragon 800 chip found in the regular G2. Also packed inside of the G2 mini is an 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facing shooter, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage and a microSD card slot.

Unfortunately for fans of "small" Android phones, LG seems to have followed in the footsteps of many other manufacturers by downgrading the G2 mini's specs while also shrinking its size. Here's to hoping that when the G2 mini does arrive on Sprint, the dent that it leaves in the wallets of buyers will be mini as well.
