While both Samsung and the major U.S. carriers have remained fairly silent on their launch plans for the Galaxy S5, Samsung's U.K. arm is just the opposite.
Samsung today announced that the Galaxy S5 will be available for pre-order in the U.K. starting on March 28. Pre-sales will run on Samsung's own online store, at its Stratford West Experience Store and other "selected retailers." Unfortunately, while Samsung was more than happy to reveal when U.K. consumers can begin reserving their Galaxy S5's, the company didn't reveal how much the thing will actually cost.
The Galaxy S5 is the latest in Samsung's line of flagship smartphones, featuring a 5.1-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, 2.5GHz quad-core processor, 16-megapixel rear camera and 2800mAh battery. Samsung is also throwing in a number of software features that include an S Health fitness tracking app, an Ultra Power Saving Mode and Download Booster, which combines Wi-Fi and LTE connections to download content more quickly.
When it comes to the U.S., the Galaxy S5 will be available on AT&T, Boost Mobile, MetroPCS, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, Verizon Wireless and Virgin Mobile. Each of those operators will likely announce their own launch plans for Samsung's new flagship, and while it's not yet clear when those details will begin flowing in, hopefully the fact that the S5's April 11 global release date is fast approaching means that it won't be much longer before the U.S. carriers begin to reveal their plans.
