The new HTC One/HTC M8 has leaked so many times in recent weeks that we've been able to get a feel for several of its major features, including its on-screen navigation buttons and dual rear cameras. However, one detail that's eluded us is the purpose that having two rear cameras would serve. Well today that mystery has seemingly come to an end, as a promotional document for an Australian carrier appears to have outed the dual camera setup's features.

According to a flyer created by Australian carrier Telstra, the HTC M8's dual rear camera configuration will officially be known as "Duo Camera." The two cameras are said to allow the user to choose what he or she would like to focus on in an image, soften backgrounds and add unspecified "3D effects" to images. The Duo Camera is also said to excel in low light situations, a feature that HTC touted in its recent UltraPixel Technical Translations teaser video.

We've seen an increased focus on smartphone camera tech lately as manufacturers search for new ways to make their products stand out in the ever-growing wireless market. While the HTC M8 won't be the first handset to sport two rear shooters, it will be the first that we've seen with such a feature in quite a while. It's nice to finally get an idea of how HTC is planning to utilize the two camera setup of its new One, and it'll be interesting to see how the Duo Camera performs, especially considering that HTC's UltraPixel tech will be present as well.

In addition to the highlighting the M8's Duo Camera, this leaked flyer mentions that the new One will come with HTC's well-known BoomSound speakers and a 5-inch full HD display on its face. Meanwhile, the software powering the M8 is said to be HTC Sense 6.0, complete with a double-tap to wake feature that sounds similar to what LG and Nokia have recently implemented on their smartphones.
