The Windows Phone 8.1 leaks have been coming hard and fast in recent weeks, giving us a preview of seemingly every new feature found in the update before Microsoft officially introduces it in early April. That stream of leaks continues today with a video that offers a closer look at the goodies found inside of Internet Explorer 11.
One of the most notable new features of Internet Explorer 11 on Windows Phone 8.1 is Reading View. This mode allows users to strip out the formatting of a web page, leaving just the text for an easier reading experience. The Reading View includes a text size setting as well as Bright, Light, Medium and Dark view styles. Some of the other features rumored to be coming with IE 11 include a password manager, tab syncing with Windows 8.1 and a new home for the stop/refresh button that's located inside of the address bar.
Windows Phone 8.1 is shaping up to be the biggest update to Microsoft's mobile platform yet, with rumors suggesting that it'll include oft-requested features like a notification center, personal assistant, several Internet Explorer 11 improvements and more. Microsoft hasn't said much about the update quite yet, but the Redmond company did recently confirm that support for soft keys is coming soon to Windows Phone.
Windows Phone 8.1 is expected to be given a proper introduction at Microsoft's Build developer conference in early April. The update is expected to be made available to existing Windows Phone 8 devices, but there's no word yet on when those updates might begin rolling. Still, the good news is that owners of current WP8 hardware can get excited about these WP8.1 leaks rather than worrying about falling to the same fate that WP7 users did when WP8 debuted.
