When AT&T first announced its launch plans for the Nokia Lumia 1520, the carrier said that while it would only offer a 16GB version initially, a 32GB model would be offered later on. The more capacious 32GB Lumia 1520 ended up arriving a couple of months later. Now it looks like AT&T and Nokia may do something similar again, but with color this time instead of storage.
According to @evleaks, AT&T will begin selling a green version of the Nokia Lumia 1520 alongside the arrival of the Windows Phone 8.1 update. Nokia currently only manufactures the Lumia 1520 in black, red, white and yellow. As for Windows Phone 8.1, it's been said that Microsoft plans to officially unveil WP8.1 in early April, but it's not yet clear when the update will be pushed to existing Windows Phone devices.
Obviously this news about a possible green Lumia 1520 shouldn't be considered official until AT&T or Nokia says it is, but this certainly wouldn't be the first time that a flagship smartphone was re-released in a new color. Heck, even AT&T and Nokia did this back in mid-2012 when they began selling a pink version of the Lumia 900 a few months after the device's original launch. Releasing a new color of a device can help to respark consumer interest in that product, and if this rumor holds true, the green Lumia 1520 could also help to raise consumer awareness of the Windows Phone 8.1 update.
Would you be interested in a green Lumia 1520? If not, which color would you like to see Nokia's phablet offered in next?
