Last week an image of a new HTC handset referred to as the "Desire 8" made its way online, giving us a preview of one of the Taiwanese firm's upcoming handsets. Now HTC has all but made the device official on its official Sina Weibo page.
HTC recently posted a teaser image to its Weibo page that looks just like the one that leaked out less than a week ago. The device features rounded edges, front-facing BoomSound speakers and both front and rear cameras. HTC also confirmed the Desire 8's name. A second teaser image for the Desire 8 features a BlinkFeed-style screenshot along with the date of Feb. 24, suggesting that that may be the day that HTC stops the teasing and makes the Desire 8 officially official.
According to the rumor mill, the Desire 8 features a 5.5-inch display and 5-megapixel camera on its face, a 13-megapixel shooter on its backside and dual-SIM support. It's also said that the Desire 8 will be available in a handful of different colors, such as white, red, yellow, orange and cyan.
Obviously it's kind of difficult to get a good feel for the Desire 8 without a complete spec list. However, the design of the phone looks pretty nice, and it's good to see HTC continue to include front-facing speakers on its Desire line of handsets. Now we just have to wait until the company gives the Desire 8 a proper introduction so that we can fill in the holes of its spec list.
What do you think of the Desire 8 so far? Would you check it out if HTC offered this device in your country?
