Much of the focus on HTC has been on its successor to the One, codenamed M8. Much like it did with the original One, though, the rumor mill has predicted that HTC will offer a "mini" version of its next flagship, and now we've got some possible specs to pair with that device.
Similar to the jump in screen size from the HTC One to the HTC M8, the move from the One mini to the M8 mini is also expected to bring a screen size increase. According to @evleaks, the M8 mini will sport a 4.5-inch 720p display, up from the 4.3 incher found on the One mini. We're also told to expect beefier cameras on the M8 mini that include a 13-megapixel shooter around back and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
Moving inside the M8 mini's frame, it's said that HTC has selected a 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor to power its new shrunken phone. Also rumored to be included is 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. Both of those features were also a part of the One mini, but this time around it's expected that a microSD slot will also make the cut, giving M8 mini owners the option to expand upon their phone's built-in storage. Rounding out the M8 mini's alleged feature set is 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, Android 4.4.2 and HTC Sense 6, complete with on-screen buttons.
Should these rumored specs hold true, it sounds like the HTC M8 mini will be a fairly modest upgrade over the One mini. Perhaps the most noteworthy additions is the microSD slot, which is a feature that many were disappointed to learn was left out of both the original One and One mini. Also, it's kind of crazy to think that a phone with a 4.5-inch screen is being dubbed "mini" when just a few years ago, 4.3-inch displays were thought to be "huge." I suppose that's what happens when you live in a world with phones that are rockin' 6.44-inch screens, though.
