Apparently Tizen just can't catch a break. Just a week after Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo revealed that it has put its Tizen launch plans on hold because it feels that the Japanese market can't support a third mobile operating system, a Samsung employee has reportedly confirmed that the launch of the company's first Tizen smartphone has been delayed.

Tizen Indonesia claims to have been told by an official at the Samsung Electronics Media Solution Center in Korea that while the firm had planned to release its first Tizen phone in the early half of 2014, that device has been delayed. The phone was slated to go on sale in countries such as Korea and Russia. The official didn't elaborate on what caused the delay or any new release timeframe.

Tizen has been in development for a couple of years now but has faced multiple delays on its road to retail. The good news is that the Tizen Association recently sent out invitations to a Mobile World Congress event at the end of February at which new Tizen-powered hardware is expected to be shown off. The news that Samsung's first Tizen smartphone is delayed makes it unlikely that we'll see any of Sammy's goods there, but it's also worth noting that there are several other companies involved in the Tizen Association, so hopefully those other firms will bring something to show off in Barcelona.
