Just a week after Sony began rolling Android 4.3 updates out to the Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra, the company announced that it's begun the process of pushing the newest flavor of Jelly Bean to even more of its hardware.
Sony has confirmed that starting today, it's releasing Android 4.3 updates to the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z. Just as with the Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra's updates, the new software bundles for this batch of Xperia hardware includes Sony's Smart Social Camera, which offers special apps like the ability to stream video live to Facebook and a Timeshift Burst mode that allows the user to capture 61 photos in 2 seconds.
Sony has also taken this opportunity to update all of its native apps, building in new versions of Messaging, MyXperia, Smart Connect, Small apps, TrackID, Sony Select and more. Sony's media-focused apps have also been improved in the move to Android 4.3, gaining integration with the Sony Entertainment Network cloud service.
Rounding out the list of improvements packed into today's updates are Android security enhancements, a new version of the Battery STAMINA Mode power management software, support for "Restricted Profiles" on the Xperia Tablet Z and Sony's new Xperia Themes custom user interface experience. Sony has teased that Xperia Themes will offer downloadable UI packs through its Sony Select app and that it'll share more info on the service soon.
As I mentioned before, these updates will begin rolling out over the air today. The actual timing of their arrival on your phone or tablet will depend on where you live and which carrier you're on, though, so be sure to keep an eye on your device's notification bar in the coming days. If you need some help passing the time until your update arrives, just think about how awesome it'll be when your patience is rewarded with all of the goodies that are packed into this bundle of Android 4.3 goodness.
