Remember earlier this month when a Windows Phone 8.1 "Blue" screenshot leak gave us a glimpse at the update's on-screen navigation buttons? Well today we're getting another look at those keys, but this time they're actually still attached to the rest of the screenshot, giving us a better idea of what the on-screen layout will look like.
Today serial phone leaker @evleaks took to Twitter to post the image you see above, complete with the name "Moneypenny" attached. Previous rumors have suggested that that's the codename for an upcoming Nokia device that will sport Windows Phone 8.1 and the on-screen navigation buttons that come along with it. Sure enough, there is a set of Back, Windows and Search keys at the bottom of the image.
The on-screen navigation buttons aren't the only interesting things about this screenshot. The image shows two separate sets of signal bars as well as two pairs of Phone and Messaging apps, indicating that Moneypenny is likely a dual-SIM device, and it's also worth noting that the original size of the screenshot measures 854x480. Finally, Nokia is known for matching up the times in its product renders with each device's model number. The time in this screenshot is set at "6:30," indicating that the Moneypenny may be known as the Lumia 630 when it hits the market.
There's not a lot about the Moneypenny hardware that's revealed in this screenshot, but it's nice to get a better look at Windows Phone 8.1's on-screen navigation buttons. Microsoft isn't expected to require manufacturers to adopt these on-screen keys, but devices that do use them could end up with a smaller bezel as a result, and they could also allow device makers to more easily use the same hardware with two different OSes.
Along with these on-screen navigation buttons, the Windows Phone 8.1 "Blue" update is expected to bring with it a notification center, quick settings, a Siri-like personal assistant codenamed "Cortana" and a slew of other improvements. It's rumored that the update is currently undergoing testing at Microsoft and will be shown at the BUILD developer conference that's scheduled to kick off on April 2, 2014.
