Motorola Droid Mini, Ultra and Maxx owners, start your update engines. Verizon just announced that Android 4.4 KitKat is now rolling out in phases to its latest trio of Droids, bumping all three devices up to the latest version of Google's mobile operating system and bringing some other improvements along for the ride. For example, the camera image quality has been enhanced to produce better color, exposure and dynamic range accuracy, and an update to Droid Zap 2.0 brings a new interface and the ability to access Zap from the app tray.
Motorola has been pretty on the ball lately when it comes to software updates for its new hardware. The company has already updated all of its Moto X variants up to KitKat, and now the Verizon-branded Droids are getting the same treatment, all within the month and a half window since Google officially introduced Android 4.4 on the Nexus 5. That's awesome to see, and I wouldn't be surprised if Moto's hard work is winning it some new and return customers.
If you've got a Droid Mini, Ultra or Maxx that you call your daily driver, be sure to keep a lookout for the Android 4.4 update in the coming days. Those of you that are feeling impatient can check for your candy bar treat manually by heading into Menu > Settings > About phone > System updates.
