Consumers have been able to design their own Moto X using Motorola's Moto Maker tool since August, but starting today they'll be able to customize their Moto X advertising as well. Motorola has included a full-page ad in the January issue of Wired that uses a thin battery, button membrane and set of LEDs that allow the reader to press one of the colored buttons and change the hue of the Moto X that's in the photo. Magazines with the ad will be distributed in Chicago and New York starting today, and it's estimated that it will reach approximately 153,490 readers.
Motorola's ad is unique, not unlike the Moto Maker customization tool that it's based on, and it's cool to see the company working to create some special advertising for the Moto X. Obviously this ad took more effort to create than a traditional print ad would, and it's great to see Moto put in work to support its flagship product. If you want to check out the ad for yourself and can't make it to a city that it's being distributed in, or you just don't want to get up from the comfort of your seat, you can check it out in the YouTube video below.
