Exactly one year after launching a public beta of its free mobile broadband service, FreedomPop is officially rolling out a mobile phone service of its own as well. The company today announced that it's now offering 500MB of data, 500 text messages and 200 anytime minutes to consumers every month for no charge. For consumers that need more than 500 texts or 200 minutes per month, FreedomPop also offers a paid plan that includes unlimited talk and text for $10.99 per month.
FreedomPop's service runs on the Sprint network, and interested customers will be able to purchase the HTC EVO Design from FreedomPop for $99 with no contract. More Android-powered phones are said to be coming to FreedomPop's roster later in 2013.
We've seen a few interesting Sprint-powered MVNOs pop up recently, and now it looks like we can add FreedomPop to that list as well. Obviously getting free cellphone service is a pretty intriguing proposition, and while there are a few aspects of FreedomPop's offering that potential customers will want to be aware of before signing up, anyone that's a light phone user could very well get by with the company's free monthly plan.
